Breaking into Tech – My Transition Story
I'm Teodor Petrov - a former law enforcement professional who transitioned into the IT world driven by curiosity and a passion for technology. After graduating from the Ministry of Interior Academy in Sofia, I served for nearly five years in the security sector, where I developed strong leadership, analytical thinking, and the ability to work under pressure.
While working as a bar manager and later in the police force, I discovered my interest in the tech world I was initially drawn to front-end development because I loved seeing the visual results of what I built. Over time, I became more fascinated by the systems behind the scenes, and naturally shifted my focus toward system administration, IT support, and DevOps.
I joined some online courses while I finally joined the DevOps Academy at Flutter International, where I gained some hands-on experience in cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and automation tools like Docker, Git, and scripting languages.
Since then, I’ve worked in IT support roles at major organizations like Postbank and Comac Medical, resolving incidents, managing user accounts, and improving system uptime. My goal is to continue growing in the field of infrastructure and DevOps, with a focus on automation, reliability, and clean operational workflows.

Where I Want to Go
Currently, my focus is on deepening my expertise in system administration and DevOps. I am actively pursuing learning opportunities in areas like infrastructure automation, containerization, and cloud computing.
To strengthen my skills, I regularly engage in online courses, set up virtual environments for hands-on practice, and explore new tools like Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform. My goal is to expand my ability to manage and optimize IT systems, build scalable infrastructures, and automate workflows effectively. As I continue to develop in this field, I aim to stay current with best practices and tools that drive efficiency in modern IT environments.
